It was the year 1983 when I first came to the US in hopes of one day reaching the American Dream. I was only 23 years old with my oldest daughter Jaryn, which at that time was only two. I remember a BIG city, everything being so different, and full of people I did not know. I did not speak English and finding my way around in a new and very strange place became one of the biggest challenges of my life.
I had to care for my daughter and leaving her behind for work seemed too hard and too difficult. I was not able to have a peace of mind not knowing if she was being fed or being well taken care of. I did have the support of my husbands family, often they would help me by taking care of my daughter Jaryn. However, it was still very difficult for me to leave my daughter. My husband working was not enough to care for our family. At that time we lived with my husbands family, but the desire to attain a better life for me and my family and one day accomplish an education was always in my heart.
It was then that the doors opened, many friends from my husband's family had established professional careers and were in need of a child care service they could trust. I began to care for their children and many times I would spend the whole day with them. We would play, read, sing, and create special moments together. It was then that I saw the opportunity to stay home and care for my daughter; as well as to fulfill my desire to one day reach my professional goals. Caring for the children allowed me to not leave my daughter behind and create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for her. This opportunity introduced me to the wonderful world that the children and I built that was full of joy and promises for both the children and my future.
Some time after this, I began working in a restaurant and it was thanks to this job opportunity that I began to learn English. I learned to cook and prepare delicious Mexican food. I learned all the required business administrations within the restaurant, and after three years with the company I became the Restaurant Manager. This experience was essential to my having my own business, since it gave me the experience of a business owner and helped in preparing me for my future.
I did not want to remain a Restaurant Manager all my life. I wanted a greater extent than that and I desired an education. I began to work with the children again and educate myself to better care for them and embarked onto college courses. Afterward, we focused on providing a better and safer environment for the children, and invested in our home to better fit their needs.
Today, my children have grown up, but I once was also in search of the right care provider. I am also a mother, and as a mother I know what I would want for my children. Over the years I have focused on building exactly that, the perfect day care facility that I as a mother can trust. As a mother I can say that I couldn't recommend a better daycare facility other than Gadea's Family Day Care.
30 years have gone by since I started working with children and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I am 53 years old with 30 years of experience, licensing, and education in my profession. Every day I wake up with the same desire to teach, educate, and implant in them the desire to be what they want to be in life. I love the children and I want to help them accomplish their goals and desires like they have helped me accomplish mine. I want to help them by providing them with a safe, fun, loving, and enjoyable learning environment.
